The Steel Wheels band came up with an ingenious project idea that they titled 'Distance Together.'  In a unique way to stay connected to fans during the pandemic, they offered an opportunity to commission songs by fans! Sharon was a HUGE Steel Wheels fan and so I thought this was a perfect way to keep her name and memory alive, and support these amazing guys by commissioning a song that was all about Sharon.
The band was deeply moved and inspired by the myriad of requests, especially the stories behind them, and decided to select 9 of the songs to create an album titled 'Everyone A Song'!  Lo and behold, Sharon's song made the #1 track!  You can read about this process, and Sharon's song specifically, in a great article published by American Songwriter, the Craft of Music, here:  The Steel Wheels Share Inspirational True Story Behind New Track 'My Name is Sharon'.

And So Much More!

We Made You a Song!

If the 'Everyone a Song' album wasn't enough, the guys decided to take those 9 songs and dig deeper in to their unique stories. Those involved in the selected songs were interviewed over Zoom in order to create a Podcast that told the stories behind the songs and the unique process of commissioning them in the first place.  This project was called 'We Made You a Song'

Sharon's song was so beautifully done and touched my heart deeply.  I decided several months later that it would be really cool to commission a second song for Sharon's best friend, Erin Buckley. Here is 'Mark on Me' ...

Exciting news!  The Steel Wheels decided to publish a second volume of 'Everyone a Song' accompanied by yet a few more podcasts!  Again, I give you.. !

And if two amazing songs dedicated to the life and impact of Sharon Marie Gath wasn't enough, the Steel Wheels offered a third round of commissioned songs. A spot (limit of 10) was set aside for me by these amazing guys. I struggled with what topic could there be that hadn't already been done?  Leave it to Erin who knew right away.. the love between a mother and daughter.. Sharon and I.  I give you ..
